  The lawyers of  Sudekum, Cassidy & Shulruff, Chtd. have experienced success in a variety of areas during our years in practice.  Below are some of the highlights.
 
 

 
 

  • In August of 2007, Governor Rod Blagojevich signed into law towing legislation (Senate Bill 435) drafted by Frederick J. Sudekum III and supported by the insurance industry. The Act will take effect in July of 2008;
     
  • In January of 2008, the ABA Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section published the Property Insurance Litigator’s Handbook. Frederick J. Sudekum, III  and Florence M. Schumacher drafted Chapter 8 entitled “Witnesses.”
  • In 2007, John C. Cassidy was client-appointed to                                     assist with roofing arbitrations in Indiana, as he                                           has arbitrated more than 200 cases;
     
  • In 2005 – 2008, Lynette D. Simmons acted as a                                     Faculty Member at the National Institute for                                             Trial Advocacy, Midwest Regional Program,                                           Chicago, Illinois;

  • In January 2008, Dennis J. Fitzpatrick became the President and Chapter Newsletter    Editor of the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators – Illinois Chapter;
     
  • In November of 2006, Richard Wm. Strawbridge spoke at the annual     convention of National Association of Subrogation Professionals concerning the prove-up of damages in property subrogation cases. His presentation was  entitled “It’s All About Money;”
  • In the past five years, the firm has tried over 100 cases to verdict in the Law and Municipal Divisions of Cook County and the Greater Chicago area and resolved more than 200 cases through alternative dispute resolution;
     
  • In 2008, we successfully appealed the matter of Barnes v. State Farm concerning material misrepresentations made by the                              
  • insureds during the presentation of the claim;                     
     
  • In 2005 and 2007, we successfully appealed the                                    matters of CNA v. Silvio & Judy DiPaolo and                                         Warnock v. Karm, et al.; and
     
  • In 2003, the firm joined The Advisory Board.
