  Coverage Issues  
 
 
Frederick J. Sudekum, III and John C. Cassidy handle and supervise the investigation, analysis and litigation of coverage disputes. Our firm has a sub-  
specialty in defending questionable claims. Our practice includes extensive experience arbitrating and mediating first party disputes. Mr. Sudekum and Mr. Cassidy are assisted by Lynette D. Simmons and Associates as necessary.
 

 

  First-Party Property and Catastrophic Claims
 
Mr. Sudekum, Mr. Cassidy and Albert S. DeVito handle and supervise the investigation and litigation of property claims, including automobile claims. Collectively, they have over forty years experience investigating and defending questionable property claims. They are assisted by Lawrence Shulruff, Ms. Simmons and Associates as necessary.
 
 
   Third-Party Liability/Bodily Injury
 
Mr. Shulruff handles and supervises first-and third-party bodily injury claims. He is assisted by Ms. Simmons, Dennis J. Fitzpatrick and other Associates as necessary. Our trial attorneys have tried more than 75 cases to verdict in the past three years, winning 'not guilty' verdicts in more than 40 percent of the cases.
 

 
                 Subrogation
 
Richard Wm.Strawbridge maintains a practice that consists primarily of subrogation work. Mr. Sudekum, Mr. Cassidy and Mr. Shulruff also handle and supervise subrogation actions. In the past two years, the firm has prosecuted and defended multiple actions with recovery values exceeding $1 million.
 

 
         Fraud Recovery Actions
 
Mr. Sudekum, Mr. Cassidy and Mr. Shulruff handle and supervise recovery actions under the Illinois Insurance Fraud Statute. Since the enactment of the Statute in January of 1993, the firm has represented numerous insurers pursuing recovery actions. Mr. Sudekum has obtained arbitration
awards, prosecuted successful recovery suits and obtained settlements under this statute. He has
also represented insurers in cases where law enforcement agencies have been interested in pursuing criminal sanctions for the violation of the Illinois Fraud Statute.
 
 
 
       Appeals
 
Mr. Sudekum supervises all appeals. He is assisted primarily by Florence
Schumacher. Ms. Schumacher served as a staff attorney from 1991 to 1993
in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, Atlanta,
Georgia. She has extensive trial and appellate experience.
